Private Courses
Jul 23rd
We are very pleased to offer private courses for groups consisting of 5 or more individuals. These courses are adaptations of existing courses but restricted to only your group. In this private setting, individuals can work through the material in a safe, efficient manner.
These private courses are especially attractive to youth group leaders who want to expose their group to important foundational information regarding the Christian faith and wish to have a more personalized experience.
Another advantage to the private course program is that a time most convenient to the group can be arranged to hold the course.
The courses allow students to participate at their leisure just like the normal courses but of course scheduled times where everyone is on can be arranged.
$20 per person per week (4 week maximum). $50 set-up fee (waived for private groups larger than 15 individuals). 50% deposit with remainder paid halfway through the course.
Additionally, courses are still facilitated by one of our competent staff members who are well versed in apologetical issues.
Our private courses are great ways for youth leaders to give their youth the tools they need to counter the attacks they face already and those to come in the future.
To sign up for a private course you need to coordinate directly with a staff member.
(Why the extra cost? Customization and adaptation of the courses to your needs requires extra work from course creators and facilitators. Such courses will probably also require extra time and effort in engaging participants in the class itself.)
Are there Grades?
Jul 23rd
No. There is no grading. However, the facilitators are very committed to helping each individual learn and grow through these courses, and an important part of learning involves feedback. With that in mind, you can expect that facilitators will provide quick and useful feedback on all assignments. This feedback may involve suggestions, thought-provoking questions, suggested additional readings, words of encouragement, or perhaps gentle corrections intended to help each person have a successful and rewarding learning experience.
The academy is not accredited, so the value of the courses resides completely in the learning you obtain. That said, for those enrolled in the certificate programs, there may be assessments to ensure that learning has occurred.
What are Courses Like?
Jul 23rd
Our courses are handled 100% online. You will most likely not need a microphone, but speakers and the ability to see videos will be helpful. There could be chat rooms or forum discussions and other forms of interaction, but most likely text based.
Individual facilitators will have different approaches. Some will assign reading assignments and then discuss them while others will direct you to Youtube videos which may even be of the facilitator himself.
Do you have to purchase the books? It is strongly suggested. Every effort is made to make it so that the Internet is the primary resource but in some cases that just isn’t possible, or even if its possible, it is wise to have the book in hand.
Accreditation
Jul 23rd
Athanatos Online Academy is not accredited.
Our academy is not geared to be a ‘degree track’ institution. We do offer a certificate program which may be useful for DCEs, youth directors, or others that would like to document their learning in a meaningful way. Our courses are meant for the personal edification of individuals looking to get started in apologetics, deepen their perspective on particular hot topic buttons, get ‘guided tours’ on issues that are so formidable and complex that it is difficult to know where to begin, or generally equip them with tools for further, usually independent, research.
